Neckarsulm-based quattro GmbH has produced the last of 8081 RS 6 models - a unique combination of a bi-turbo engine and quattro drive, and a spacious body and superior DRC suspension system.

 

 

The RS 6 offers a unique driving experience in a class of its own. The 4.2-liter V8 has an output of 450 bhp and even at 1950 rpm reaches a torque of 560 Nm. The DRC variable suspension system reduces the side tilt on bends with no loss in comfort; the quattro drive ensures optimum traction at all times.

 

 

In May 2002, AUDI AG and its wholly owned subsidiary, quattro GmbH, launched this new innovative car on the market. The RS 6 combines the efficiency and spaciousness of the A6 or A6 Avant with the driving performance and road handling of a super sports car.

 

 

The RS 6 is a joint development from quattro GmbH and AUDI AG. It will be produced as a sedan and an Avant at the Neckarsulm compound between the Audi plant and quattro GmbH. Final assembly work and finishing is carried out manually for an average of 30 RS 6 vehicles a day at quattro GmbH's manufacturing halls in Neckarsulm. There are currently around 120 employees working here.

 

 

Around 6000 units were originally intended but, according to Werner Frowein, Managing Director of quattro GmbH, "demand has far surpassed even our highest expectations". Since May, a total of 8081 of the most powerful vehicles on the market to date, have been produced.

 

 

 

In April 2004, quattro GmbH expanded its range to include a sports version limited to just 999 units - the Audi RS 6 plus. At 353 kW (480 bhp) the RS 6 plus also delivers 30 bhp more than the standard Audi RS 6 and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.6 seconds.

 

 

In autumn of next year, quattro GmbH will begin series production of the new RS 4 at its manufacturing plant in Neckarsulm. Until then, the employees will assist with production of the A6 and at the same time will be qualified to manufacture the new quattro GmbH model.

En tout cas le prochain RS6 a déjà une très bonne concurrente en la personne de la M5 donc va falloir faire fort Messieur Audi mais on ne doute pas de la qualité, ni de la tenue de route de la future RS6 motorisé par le V10 de la Gallardo
