On Audi A8 vehicles manufactured within a specific period the ultrasonic sound waves from the front parking sensors can be deflected by the number plate carrier, with the result that a continuous warning tone is emitted when the vehicle is being parked even though there is no visible obstacle. The software has also been optimised on some control units. The modifications are as follows:

•

Engine control unit 4.2 ltr. TDI: optimisation of overrun fuel cutoff diagnosis

•

Gearbox control unit 4.2 ltr. TDI: optimisation of 2 - 1 shift when rolling to a stop

•

Selector lever control unit: optimisation of selector lever diagnosis

Technical background

On Audi A7 and A8 vehicles with adaptive cruise control the software has been optimised with regard to the detection of objects and vehicle response when approaching other vehicles.

 

Remedy

On the vehicles affected, a software update of the adaptive cruise control must be carried out.
