Volkswagen could build Porsche Panamera

Shares of Porsche climbed 1.3 percent on news that chief executive Wendelin Wiedeking was considering contracting assembly of the Panamera 4-seater, scheduled to go on sale in 2009, to Volkswagen.

The assembly would probably take place at Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant, the magazine AutomobilWoche said.

Currently, the two companies are hard at work to establish a contract outlining their future cooperation.

“We need a basic contract about the cooperation between Volkswagen and Porsche,” Wulff said. “It’s about avoiding conflicts of interest.”
