OK, that is what I expected. All I can say is that it should work, but because I have a Hilink modem in the car I never had to try this configuration. But it is possible that the mr3020 has issues when you try to use the radio both ways, though the guest hostpot mode in ROOter shows it should be workable (but for the RNS850 connection mode, I'm afraid it would mean full manual configuration, not easy). My suggestion, if you haven't done it that way yet: - reset from factory to start fresh (keep a backup of the current working config so you can go back) - configure the AP mode the way you want it so you can connect your laptop/smartphone to it - plug in the modem, and configure so it provides Internet access to the laptop - add the client mode interface, scan for your home hotspot, make the changes to that interface as if it was the car hotspot (IP Address, DHCP Etc... everything from the cookbook) - Check that AP mode still work from the laptop - then you can edit the wireless config file in /etc/config/wireless to replace your home SSID with the RNS850 SSID, and modify security parameters accordingly (you can copy that part from your working backup, just the needed lines) - make sure you remove the bssid line, or replace with the value from the car backup or it will not connect to the car - go in the car, connect and check (plug laptop in router lan, and take some readings, ie route, ifconfig, logread, dmesg commands) And for any specific additional router questions, move to the other forum for ROOter as you will have more chance of an answer. You can always come back here to document the fix once you have it! ;)

Can you describe precisely what you want to achieve (including all aspects)?

This tutorial is for connecting in client mode to another hotspot, not for AP mode. And sonce you are already connected to the MMI in client mode it can not work. What version of ROOter are you using?

Pareil pour moi, peut-être que les propriétaires légitimes plutôt que se plaindre sur les forums, ont appelé directement leur concessionnaire. Peut-être aussi, que Audi a dû faire un gros chèque à Google.

Ce nest pas une question de confiance, mais j'ai du mal à imaginer qu'Audi ne laisse que les yeux pour pleurer à tous ceux à qui ils ont vendu GE en concession (donc ceux dont la voiture est officiellement équipée de l'option). Ce serait très très mauvais en terme de com, même si ils peuvent pointer Google du doigt car rien ne les empêche de négocier une license groupe pour toutes leurs voitures. Après, quelle forme prendra leur réaction, je n'en sait rien. Ils peuvent aussi bien offrir des goodies pour faire passer la pilule, nous verrons bien... Par contre si c'est implémenté dans la MMI on a une petite chance de pouvoir rebondir dessus.

Il va surtout falloir attendre l'upgrade du MMI qui vire GE pour voir par quoi ils le remplace... Après on pourra commencer à réfléchir.

Ca veut juste dire que la partie du script d'activation qui s'occupe du DNS a inséré les mêmes adresses dans le MMI. Et sans doute que ce script est soit le même que, soit basé sur celui utilisé à l'époque. Et en tous cas que ce n'est pas la même manip de connection. Ceci dit, pour revenir à nos moutons, et à moins qu'Audi ne réagisse en livrant une mise à jour pour nos MMI implémentant un autre type d'accès à une carto type Google Earth, on est bien plantés! D'abord le trafic online (et dire que j'étais prêt à leur donner des ronds pour le réactiver, bandes de boulets!), maintenant Google Earth... Ne reste plus qu'à ce qu'ils dénoncent l'accord avec la boite qui fournit les autres services et il ne restera plus que la recherche de destinations en ligne pour le GPS. Pas sûr que ça justifie de remplir mon accoudoir...

Alors pour faire simple, cest adresses, dans CS_RESOLV, ce sont des serveurs DNS (pour remplacer www.google.com par son adresse IP, par exemple). 8.8.8.8 et 8.8.4.4 sont chez Google, 134.60.1.111 est dans une université allemande, et 192.168.0.254 étant une IP privée, donc non routable sur Internet, doit nécessairement correspondre à un système embarqué (le kit de raccordement à Audi Connect de cam.Say?). A ce sujet, j'aimerais bien plus d'info sur ce kit... Clairement un carte SD ne suffirait pas, sauf si la voiture est déjà équipée d'un modem 3G ou 4G (mais sans l'option Audi Connect, c'est louche). cam.Say, je veux bien un ch'tite photo du bousin, pour voir à quoi ça ressemble... C'est possible?

There is a diagnostic script (actually there are two versions, on that runs from the sdcard with output in file and one that installs and replaces green menu ip config menu). It would help if you can run it before and after the problem ocurs. I'll check if I can get you my version with a few more checks.

No, not really... you get the same problem with a laptop or an iPhone so the issue should not be the devices which only leaves he trouter in the equation. There are ways to plug in a laptop in the router to collect logs live through the LAN port, maybe finding out what happens in the router when it fails will help? Can you borrow another model router, or try even an AC powered one with the same firmware and configuration to compare?

Your diagram does not correspond to what I advise... One key issue is the ability of the router to power the modem. Please note that USB 2 is only rated for 500mW (though some implementation may provide more) and the modem may need more, but also the power draw frmo the router into you power adapter is limited by router circuitery and may not be enough to power some router/modem combination. The Huawei modem I used at first, the e3276s is known to be a power hog and can draw in excess of 1A when running fast. That was clearly too much for my setup, causing all sorts of weird problems when the router rebooted unexpectedly. While I cannot guarantee your issues are caused by power supply, the better way to power your setup is to use a USB Y cable, with at one end the connector you plug the modem into, and at the other end, 2 connectors, one going into the router and the other into the USB power adaptor. Then in parallel the router plugs into another port of the power adaptor. I am not convinced from the pictures you showed that you own such a cable for the modem, but it will guarantee that both the router and the modem get adequate power. Hi mk008, Everything you've done looks good, so I'll go straight to a specific point... power How do you power the MR3020 and modem? What brand/model is then modem? My assumption is that as you ramp up traffic, the modem starts pumping more power than the router can supply and the router fails and reboot. You can log in the router and check uptime, that will confirm whether it really rebooted. Next things is you can get some real cheap USB meters that will tell you how much power is being drawn by the router or the modem. IF you end up confirming power is your issue, I would suggest a powerful brand USB power adapter for the car and a good, short, USB cable to plug the router in. Better still, get a good Y cable so you can plug the modem into power (make that USB power adapter a two port one) in parallel to the router so it does not need to get its power from the router. When I started playing with my MMI initially I had no end of problem that amounted to my power supply not being up to the task. I replaced everything and solved mostof my problems at once. Just avoid the quick charge power adaptors as I have found the small routers did not like it too much (I've fried 3 TP-Link and 1 Nexx last year!!)
