It is possible to break our clutch. It took a lot of abuse for this to happen. The Pressure plate is the OEM RS4 pressure plate that all of you have on your RS4 from the factory. We have been using the pressure plates for the B5 S4, B6 A4, B6 S4, B7 A4, B7 S4 and B7 RS4 for years and the straps have never broken because of a manufacturer defect. They have all broken from driving the car past it's limits. If the pressure plate failed first, it could cause the slipping. However, that means he drove the car while the clutch was sipping for an extended period of time.

Hello everyone, I only know English, so bare with me. Julien's clutch disc has been glazed or commonly known as cooked which turns the coloration black. This only happens when there is excessive heat commonly caused by improper use of the clutch or slipping the clutch for an extended period of time. Please see the photo above as it shows a cooked/abused stage 4 (left) and a stage 4 with normal use (over 30k miles). The pictures you sent me looks worse than the one that we abused here in house during R&D. We are known for our extensive testing process when it comes to our products, so you can see how we are reluctant to warranty a product that shows such significant signs of abuse. The strap on the LuK pressure plates only break like that when the car is driven very hard. It sheared the rivets off which takes a lot of force. That is clearly not a manufacturer defect. The two deciding factors of abuse are: 1) Clutch disc has been glazed very badly 2) Pressure Plate strap was sheared off Neither of those factors happen under normal driving conditions so the car was abused to the point of clutch failure. We never hesitate to warranty one of our products if the failure was do to a manufacturer defect. As much as we would like to warranty this clutch we cannot due to the obvious signs of abuse. We would still like to help this customer out on this unfortunate situation so we are offering to make a deal on a R Series clutch kit, as it was purpose built to handle this type of abuse. We are trying to help the best we can, but we are not responsible for improper use of our products. Regards, Jake
